22nd. June 2017. Today's outing was to take the Lads on an adventure to visit the towns of Ripon and Ripley. They are situated close to one another in North Yorkshire, we are getting there by bus or should I say luxury coach. The service provided was excellent to say the least considered it was the public service bus. Our plans were to meet up at the bus station in Leeds for about 9:50 . This was in order to catch the 10:00 number 36 coach, the journey was expected to take about an hour and twenty minutes depending upon the traffic situation etc. Our group today consists of Eddie, Derek, Malcolm, John and Dave. Seated comfortably on the top deck of the coach our journey begins , this is an all new experience for Dave, traveling through the suburbs of Leeds, the journey time soon passes and we find ourselves in Harrogate, at this point quite a number of passengers join the coach, we soon find out the reason why! race day at Ripon!.From here our journey continues nort

15th June 2017   Today's adventure was going to take the Lads over the boarder into Lancashire! To see what's on offer in the red rose county! I think we are in for a surprise.  Our journey starts once again in Leeds at the railway station, most of the Lads meet up there in order to catch our various trains. This time it is one heading for the village of Greenfield, we have to change trains at Huddersfield in order to get there. So it's all aboard the 9:36 heading west, Dave joined the train at Dewsbury. Now it's just a few minutes ride along the track to Huddersfield then change platforms at catch the 10:15 Wigan train. A  few stops later  and  through a rather lengthy tunnel we find ourselves at Greenfield , so it's over the road and down the hill heading for the bus stop near the Kingfisher pub. We catch the 180 bus and ride a few stops through  the village, eventually getting off the bus at the Clarence Hotel. Now our walking begins ,some seven

Ten Pin Bowling

Tuesday 6th June  Our proposal of a trip to Newark on Trent was called off due to inclement weather, so at short notice we have taken the decision to try our hand at  Ten Pin Bowling at Leeds again. Only a small group of the lads today,  just Colin John Derek and Dave, we still had a great laugh even though some of the comedians of our group  were absent from this venue. We arranged to meet at midday and take it from there, booking two games each they placed us on lane 19 , Colin soon got to grips with the scoring mechanism and after a short while we commenced the tournament! Dave was off to a great start and kept up this momentum for the first six frames with about 70 points on the board , whilst Colin John and Derek were battling it out between themselves until Derek improved his skills and pulled off a strike followed by a couple of spares, Colin and John were still struggling with their actions. Dave eventually won the game. The second game brought a much better p
