12th. July 2018.                     Hayburn Wyke  Today’s outing would take the Lads to the East Coast resort of Scarborough, their mission was to experience an enjoyable meal at the local Inn at Hayburn Wyke.  Yet again our journey starts at Leeds Railway Station, where we will board the 9:21 train heading for Scarborough, our group consists of Keith, Malcolm, John, Derek and Dave, Colin and Eddie have other commitments. We arrived on the east coast just before 10:40 with only minutes to spare before the Whitby bound bus was due to leave, rather hurriedly we climbed aboard for our journey to Cloughton. At this point we would leave the bus and head down Station Road in order to meet the pathway that would lead us in the direction of Hayburn Wyke. A few minutes after 11 o’clock we began our steady walk towards our intended destination, the Hayburn Wyke Inn.  As midday approached the Inn came into view, moments later we were sat inside deciding which meals to order al

Then a short walk to the bus station in Keighley to meet up with the “Tourmeister” John for the 10:45 bus to Haworth arriving at 11:00 on the dot. We crossed the road and into the Station to wait for our 11:25 train whilst John had a dialogue with the ticket office. The train which we had reserved seven seats in Coach “C” No’s 49 – 55 arrived a little after 11:30 and we boarded the train after being given the nod by a station marshal. The train was running slightly late due to a number of reasons one of the most serious was a blaze that had been started by a spark from a locomotive that was also on the line. We travelled up to Oakworth for a photo shoot and we then clambered aboard for a trip back into Keighley where mor

For we have set ourselves a challenge to climb one of the three peaks, that of Whernside. It is the highest hill or so called mountain in our county of Yorkshire, standing at an elevation of 2415 feet. As usual our journey starts at Leeds Railway Station, we are to board the 9:19 train heading for Carlisle, today our group will consist of Malcolm, John, Eddie, Colin and Dave, the other two contenders namely Keith and Derek have played their jokers and decided to give this challenge a miss, very wise decision on their part! Anyhow a smooth one hour plus rail journey to Ribblehead gave us time to catch up on previous events . We arrived at our destination a few minutes before 11:00 am. along with a few other intrepid hill walkers all geared up for their own challenges. It was a steady
