Hayburn Wyke

12th. July 2018.                     Hayburn Wyke

Today’s outing would take the Lads to the East Coast resort of Scarborough, their mission was to experience an enjoyable meal at the local Inn at Hayburn Wyke.
Yet again our journey starts at Leeds Railway Station, where we will board the 9:21 train heading for Scarborough, our group consists of Keith, Malcolm, John, Derek and Dave, Colin and Eddie have other commitments. We arrived on the east coast just before 10:40 with only minutes to spare before the Whitby bound bus was due to leave, rather hurriedly we climbed aboard for our journey to Cloughton.

At this point we would leave the bus and head down Station Road in order to meet the pathway that would lead us in the direction of Hayburn Wyke. A few minutes after 11 o’clock we began our steady walk towards our intended destination, the Hayburn Wyke Inn.
As midday approached the Inn came into view, moments later we were sat inside deciding which meals to order along with a few other patrons. Soon our lunches arrived much to the delight of all the lads , a most enjoyable meal in this friendly establishment, well worth the journey.

Lunch time over and we have made the decision to return to Cloughton by way of the Coastal pathway , leaving out the visit to see the waterfalls which involves a rather steep decent and a clambering back up again. Soon we are walking along the cliff top with the views of Scarborough way off in the distance .

The last time we were on this pathway we were heading in the opposite direction so this made a delightful change to things.
An hour or so later we had a decision to make, either carry on walking all the way back towards Scarborough or leave the pathway here and take the country lane back into Cloughton and catch the bus back to the resort. Time was an issue at this point, so it was decided to return by bus. This being done we soon found ourselves back on the streets of Scarborough and heading down towards the Harbour Bar for a well deserved Ice Cream delight , Peach Melba etc.

These consumed now for a stroll along the seafront before heading back to the Railway Station in order to catch our train back to Leeds which is due to leave a few minutes before 6 o’clock.
Another great day out with the Lads.
