21st. August 2018.                   Newark-on-Trent  Today our journey will take us south to the market town of Newark which stands by the river Trent. Our means of getting there will be by train via Doncaster. We will eventually be a group of six, which will include John, Derek, Keith, Colin and Dave , we are to meet up with Jeff when we reach Newark. Our train drops us off a few minutes after eleven o’clock and there is Jeff to greet us. From the station we take a steady walk towards the town centre, we are on the lookout for the newly located Civil War Museum. . Not before too long we come across this building and decide to explore the artefacts that are on display here. Sonning , which was due to sail at 1 o’clock  , this would take us along

Eddie, John, Keith, Derek and Dave, the rest of the Lads having other commitments. This so called slow train was aptly named due to the amount of stations that it called at on our way. Too many to mention although some names did raise a few eyebrows! Some hours later we did arrive at the resort only to find it rather gloomy ,but this did change to bring out a somewhat glorious sunny day as the photos will reveal. After abandoning the slow train we now headed for a bite to eat at the nearby Something Specia
