Golden Acre Park

Tuesday 17th. September 2019.     An outing with a Difference

Today’s outing was a chance for old comrades to meet up in the pleasant and peaceful grounds of
Golden Acre Park. A location situated on the outer fringes of north Leeds, a place that comes highly recommended by some of the lads but little known to others. An X84 bus will take a handful of the group to this location, while others make their own way there. What a pleasant surprise as we gathered in the car park on arrival at Golden Acre.

The group now extending to almost a Bakers Dozen has they steadily made their way out of the car park and took the pathway that leads under the main road and into the park land area. What a delightful setting, glorious flower beds surrounded the cafeteria building with ample outdoor tables available on the patio which was blessed with warm September sunshine. Pleasantries exchanged and a brief drink enjoyed it was now time to explore these grounds, a gentle stroll along the pathway that took us to the edge of the  lake , then on into a wooded area blessed with wild flowers and bird life.

A chance here to sit quietly for a while and watch them feeding at their will, from this point we circled the lake and made our way back to the cafeteria to have lunch, quite busy now.

But lunch soon arrived has we sat and discussed worldly and the every day events that were on our minds at this particular moment , nice to see so many faces from bygone times , a great reflection upon the friendships that were forged at Chas Thackray.
Cheers Lads.

Those taking part in today’s outing included the following:

Eddie Hampshire. John Hey. Keith Bland. Derek Lee. John Howarth
Steve Middleton. Colin Hendrick Ward. Brian and Christeen  Pickles
