Image
21st. July 2021.                  Scarborough Revisited  Today’s adventure would see a bunch of Lads meet up at the East Coast resort of Scarborough, not a great gathering though, just Colin, John, Dave , Brian and Alan. Three of the Lads are arriving by train from Leeds, the other two are already in Scarborough. Rendezvous time at the railway station in Scarborough is approximately 10:50 , from here the group will be heading for the Clock Tower Cafe which is situated in a cliff side setting near the South Bay here at the resort, so not too far of a walk to start of things today. The morning weather here is a comfortable 21degrees at the present time, sat here at the cafe enjoying the lovely views out over the bay, much better than previous earlier mornings where it as been around the 25 - 27 region . Tea and cake were the order of the day here and very much appreciated along with the company,  giving the lads time to reflect upon past adventures that they have undertaken over the las

14th. July 2021.           Wensleydale. Wondering  Today’s adventure for the Lads would see them take a train journey to the far reaches of North Yorkshire, they were heading for the small town of  Bedale. From there they would experience a short trip on the Heritage Railway that connects with a couple of other nostalgic stations that exist in this particular location. The passengers on this excursion will include John, Colin, Brian, Malcolm and Dave, each making their own way to Leeds in order to board the 9:14 train heading for Northallerton, from here they caught a No 73 bus  that would transport them to Bedale. The bus journey took about 25 minutes and during this time a friendly passenger would enlighten that Lads about the thrills and spills on their intended ride on this heritage rail journey, much to the delight of John. Upon their arrival at Bedale another bus passenger had overheard the conversation taking place and decided to help the Lads. His name was Bob , a truly deligh

7th July 2021.             Walton to Anglers Country Park Today would see the Lads meet up in the village of Walton, which is situated just on the outskirts of Wakefield . They will be a group of seven for this adventure which will include John,  Colin , Malcolm and Brian who have traveled to Walton by means of Train and Bus , Dave , Keith and Derek have arrived by car. The rendezvous time was a few minutes after 11:00 am. Outside the New Inn public house in Walton. From this point the Lads would take the footpath off in the direction of Royston, the pathway follows the route of the now disused Barnsley Canal, after about 30 minutes they would leave the canal footpath and now follow the perimeter pathway taking them around the outside wall of the Walton Hall estate and on into Haw Park Wood a large wooded area occupied by magnificent tall pine trees, this location offers up a variety of walking trails tailored to your individual needs.( some later adventures for the Lads).   Wednesday 30 June 2021 Leeds - Whitby via Middlesbrough and Esk Valley Railway.  It was a cold morning as we assembled on Platform 16 for the Manchester Airport - Redcar Central combination.  We would be alighting at Middlesbrough to navigate the Esk Valley Railway. The weather hadn’t improved by the time we arrived at Middlesbrough so the trip down this fantastic railway journey was marred by poor visibility and clouds.  Colin enjoyed the trip but John and Brian sadly did not. This inspiring journey seemed to pass them by. However, maybe the return journey might be a little better if the sun eventually gets out.  We arrived in Whitby a little before  12:00  and with almost four hours free time we set off for the beach at a brisk pace which we would use to get to Sandsend and the Sandside Cafe which we would use as the turnaround point with a cup of hot coffee before returning to Whitby this time taking the high road along the path with panoramic views out to sea which was quite roug
