Birthday Bash at Horbury
Wednesday 6th March 2024. Birthday Bash at Horbury
Today’s outing for the Lads will consist of a trip to the small town of Horbury and visit a local Inn named the Shepherds Arms all in the aid of celebrating 2 of our colleagues birthdays, those individuals being Malcolm and Mark, accompanied by John, Colin, Derek, Glenn, Keith and Dave. A meeting time of midday was arranged along with a pre booked table reservation courtesy of Derek. Some Lads travelled there by train and bus whilst others came by car.
Our group of eight assembled in the car park awaiting for the entrance doors to be opened, it was a much colder day than the previous two days , so waiting around wasn’t what we expected, however the doors eventually opened and we were soon seated at an appropriate table close to the bar. Drinks were ordered and the menu browsed over with various conversations now taking place, some few minutes later the waitress began to take our individual selections of meals etc. More chatting ensued and the whole group became a little rowdy exchanging different points of view about upcoming outings and dates for them to take place, upon arrival of our chosen meals a more relaxed atmosphere seemed to descend upon us as we tucked into our grub.
With smiles on all our faces being a big indication that we had thoroughly enjoyed our meals it was now time to sing the customary birthday celebration song, infact we gave two renditions of this popular song much to the pleasure of the other diners sat close by.
Now time for an added pleasure that of a choice of pudding etc, these were also enjoyed with much relish. Some 15 minutes later we were asked to speed things along a little, another sitting at this table was expected to take place at around 2 o’clock , John had been dragging his feet a little, trying to answer everyone’s questions .
Bills paid and accounted for it was farewell to the Shepherds Arms here in Horbury and take our respective journeys home.
Cheers Everyone for a memorable and enjoyable birthday bash.
