Elvington Air Musium The journey to this location starts with a bus ride from Leeds to York. Once in York we walk a short distance to Merchant Gate. This is where we catch a local bus that will take us to the museum, this journey taking about 35 minutes.The driver dropping us off at the gates. From here it's just a short walk to the admission hut. After paying our entrance fee and given a brief description of what to expect, we are left to explore this nostalgic setting at our own pace. The general layout is much of what it would have been like in the WW2 era, but now with quite a number of modern additions to its airborne craft. As we wondered about the old accommodation blocks, you get a feeling of what it would have been like for the personnel who were stationed here. 3rd October 2019. A Pork Pie Tribute It is with sadness in their hearts, that some of the lads traveled back to Golden Acre Park. For this was the last time they would have been in the company of their truly great friend Eddie. It turned out to be his last outing with the Lads. A short term serious illness as taken him from us. So in a mark of great respect to our dear friend we have made the journey back here. Firstly we took a short walk to visit an area known as Paul’s Pond , a delightful small fishing lake with plenty of bird life in the surrounding woodlands.It is a rather cold day here in this part of north Leeds , so a warm drink was the order of the day now. 5th December 2019. Christmas Dinner Outing Today would see a group of seven lads meet up in the village of Marsden , which is situated on the far reaches of their home county of West Yorkshire. Their means of getting to this intended location will take on somewhat of a twist. At the time of choosing this venue at the Brewery Tap Riverside Pub in Marsden , all seemed pretty clear , a canal side walk from the village of Slaithwaite on to Marsden was considered then our Christmas Dinner at the pub. But recent weather conditions and alternative arrangements have interfered with these plans. John had to travel up from Brackley , quite a logistic operation, Colin Malcolm and Dave have decided to do the walk after all , and will be taking an earlier train, the rest of the lads which will include Derek ,Keith and John Howarth should arrive in Marsden from the 12:38 train.
