York Brewery Visit .
Lads First outing of 2017
11 January 2017. Today brought about our first outing of the year, our plans slightly altered due to
the weather. A rather cold day is forecast for Thursday so we have brought the Brewery Visit forward a day. Re arrangements made we all met up in York about 11:30 !
John being the last to join us, from the railway station we took a short stroll around the city close to the Brewery building. This included a limited walk along the city wall , even though a warmer day was forecast it felt rather chilling as we made our way . As the time approached 12:30 we now made our way to the York Brewery Building to begin our guided Visit.
Our guide Bob gave us a very informative tour of the brewing process which included a brief description of all the ingredients needed in order to achieve a good tasting beer , he also a gave us an insight into the short history of the Brewery, a period of some twenty years.
The Visit culminated in a tasting session which we all enjoyed very much , tokens had been given to us which could be exchanged for a short measure of a variety of their beers. 1 token to a third of a pint, Guzzeler being the most favourable tipple.
Tasting over, we now needed refreshment of a different kind, this was achieved by a visit to a local McDonalds, time now approaching 4pm. We set out for the bus stop in order to catch our return Zap bus back to Leeds. That was John Keith Derek and Dave, Eddie returned home by different means .
We all enjoyed today's outing , more of a social gathering than a lengthy walk.
Cheers Lads
SORRY I MISSED IT SOUNDED LIKE A GOOD DAY OUT!
