Pork Pie Tribute
3rd October 2019. A Pork Pie Tribute
It is with sadness in their hearts, that some of the lads traveled back to Golden Acre Park.
For this was the last time they would have been in the company of their truly great friend Eddie.
It turned out to be his last outing with the Lads. A short term serious illness as taken him
from us.
So in a mark of great respect to our dear friend we have made the journey back here.
Firstly we took a short walk to visit an area known as Paul’s Pond , a delightful small fishing lake with plenty of bird life in the surrounding woodlands. It is a rather cold day here in this part of north Leeds , so a warm drink was the order of the day now.
So with our coffees and teas to hand and armed with a Pork Pie each ,which happened to be one of Eddies favourite bites to eat and with a heart full of memories we sat and reflected upon the great times we had shared together. We then slowly retraced the steps we took with him just a few weeks ago and headed for the Wildlife Hide another moment of reflection for us at this point.
A gentle walk back alongside the lake and back towards the main park entrance at which point we would be able to take the bus back into Leeds.
A sad but good day out amongst friends.
Cheers Lads.
RIP Eddie you’ll be sorely missed by all those you regularly walked with. John, Brian, Malcolm, Colin, Derek, Keith, Alan and Kevin.
