Whitby to Sandsend

11th April 2017.

Our adventure today started with the routine train journey from Leeds to Scarborough, on board the 9:11am . Six of us Lads today are hoping to enjoy the delights of the East coast, the weather forecast was for a modest day in prospect, so fingers crossed and hope for the best.
We arrived in Scarborough just a few minutes before 10:30. so time to have a cuppa before we catch the X93 bus that will take us to Whitby, this journey should take about an hour,  so it's sit back and marvel at the glorious views , interrupted only  by the constant joking between us all, some of which was acknowledged by our fellow passengers!

We eventually reached Whitby at midday, from the bus station we now made our way towards the beach some 10 minutes walk away, plenty of people about enjoying the atmosphere that surrounds this old place. Soon we arrived at the beach , the tide was out so it was head down and head for Sandsend some 3 miles further along this stretch of coast, there was a rather strong wind blowing in our faces but the sun was out now, so with a skip in our steps on we marched.

Some 80 minutes later we had reached Sandsend , so at this point we made our exit from the beach and onto the Wits End Cafe to enjoy a well earned rest accompanied with tea and cakes.
This was all done whilst sat outside on benches soaking up some sunshine.

From here we crossed over the road to explore the small village of Sandsend.
What a delightful place in such a beautiful setting. Whilst here some kind resident from cottage number 5 took a group photo for us . As the time approached 3pm. it was now time to head back to the beach and the beginning of our journey back to Whitby.

This journey back was done at a much greater speed ,this was in order to beat the incoming tide.
At one point we did get our feet wet, panic over we reached the safety of the promenade and a steady walk back into Whitby.

Now time for a substantial meal, this was had at Trencher's fish and chip restaurant and enjoyed by all of us, a quick dash across the road found us just in time to board our bus back to Scarborough in order to catch the 18:50 train back home.

Yet another great exciting days adventure with the Lads
