Bradford
12th October 2017 Bradford Science and Media Museum
Today’s outing was somewhat interesting, we have decided to take a trip to the city of Bradford.
Our so called mission is to visit the Science and Media Museum in order to see the Soyuz Space Capsule .
Our meeting point would be at the city’s interchange in the heart of Bradford, some of the Lads arrived by way of the train the rest of us came by bus, today we are a flight crew of six.
Malcolm Eddie John Derek Dave and Colin, dressed accordingly we made our way to the museum just a few hundred yards or so from the interchange.
Once inside the museum there to greet all visitors was this wonderful craft, such a small object but packed with all kinds of technology a marvellous piece of engineering Lads.
Soon a member of the museum staff was on hand, to fulfill answers to the many questions being asked of her about the Space Capsule. She had been well briefed , so much so we spent a fair amount of time listening to her comments. From the entrance hall we moved up a level and here we were invited to experience a virtual reality film about the last few hours of Tim Peake’s flight back to Earth. The experience lasted about 15 minutes, it gave us a brief glimpse of what the world looks like from the I.S.S. As it orbits the plant Earth. Also to sort of embrace the extreme physical and mental pressures put on these astronauts as they make their way back home to Earth.
This virtual reality film was enjoyed by all the Lads , well worth the money.
It was time now to explore the rest of the museum and take in the delights of the different exhibits, far too many to mention but all of fascinating interests. We spent a good two hours here at the museum before heading for lunch. This was enjoyed in a nearby Chinese restaurant where we were able to reflect upon our experience at the museum and discuss what our next adventure would be.
From the restaurant we made our way back to the interchange in order to catch our various modes of transportation back home.
Cheers Lads .
Another fantastic day out!
