Down Stream from Ilkley

Thursday 23rd  July.                Down Stream from Ilkley

Today’s walk was down the right hand side of the river and on towards the suspension bridge
and beyond. A limited number of 3 participants for this adventure here in the West Yorkshire town.
They will be Colin and Brian who are travelling there by train from Leeds and John who is is taking a bus
ride journey via Keighley. They should rendezvous just after 11:30 and then make their way to the river.
From here it was down the spiral steps and along the footpath for a couple of miles passing the suspension
bridge which is located opposite Middleton Woods which is a delightful spot to visit during the Bluebell season

. They now continued their journey beyond the bridge until they felt it was time to return and head back to the town centre and visit the Listers Arms for a well deserved lunch. Surprisingly all three of them chose the same meal which consisted of Gammon Eggs and Chips, unfortunately the Gammon was a little bit over done , tasty but tough. Nevertheless, the apple crumble and ice cream that Colin and John ordered was to die for, unfortunately there was only one serving left which Colin devoured with glee and John’s dessert of Chocolate Brownies and ice cream that was ordered by Colin didn’t go down too well as the waitress delivered their order. Shouldn’t have had a toilet break John.
From the comfort of the Listers Arms the lads now made their way back to their respective modes of transport for the return journeys  home.
Another lovely day out with lots of fresh air and beautiful scenery ,plus the delight of having Brian back on board, first time since February.
Cheers Lads.
