A meeting at Pugneys
Wednesday 31st. March 2021.
A slight easing of the Corvid rules came into force a few days ago as now enabled the lads to meet up again.
Six people can now meet and take exercise outdoors, so it was a group of five that seized upon this opportunity to see each other in person again. The venue would be at Pugneys Lakes which is situated on the outskirts of Wakefield. The group consisted of John, Colin and Brian who made their way by means of the 110 bus from Leeds. Derek and Dave arrived there by car, they all planned to meet in the local Asda car as this is on the bus route and just a short walk to the lakes, 11 o’clock was the intended time, however the bus journey took less time than expected causing a slight alteration to their plans. A phone call to Dave made sure he would be at Asda car park to meet them , Derek unfortunately had to meet up with the Lads some 20 minutes later than expected, on the other side of the lake. Finally we all got to see each other which was of great relief and our journey now began with recollections of past adventures etc.
Soon a suitable bench was found and the Lads enjoyed a lite bite to eat has they soaked up the glorious sunshine and the outdoor freshness . Some 25 minutes later we resumed our walk around the lake with the added bonus of an ice cream delight along with the hundreds more pleasure seekers at this local beauty spot. A chance meeting with some volunteers working on the light railway circuit that exists here proved to be a good and knowledgeable experience to say the least. Our journey continued and we eventually arrived back at our starting point at the Asda car park almost 2 hours later, just in time for the Lads to catch their bus back to Leeds not before saying farewell to each other.
A great time was had by all
Cheers Lads
