Ribblehead Revisited

 Ribblehead    Revisited

Wednesday 23rd June 2021.

Today four of the lads have decided to take a train journey northwards and stretch their legs with a walk around the location of the Ribblehead Viaduct. Colin Brian and Dave have caught the 10:48 Leeds to Carlisle train, John will join them at Bingley. It was a pleasant day as the lads left Leeds station but what a shock when they got off the train at Ribblehead, a rather Misty outlook greeted them with a cool feel in the air. Nevertheless the Lads ventured forward on what was to be an interesting walk.

Quite a number of other travellers were in this location, so the customary conversations took place with much gusto. Ramblers out with their dogs , groups of army cadets on training exercises, young school kids enjoying a caving experience along with visiting holiday makers from many different locations judging by their accents. Rounded off with an Helicopter fly pass, All of us having to endure some moments of drizzley rain at times, don’t think it spoiled anyone’s enjoyment though.

Our particular walk was a pleasant and enjoyable experience with time to reflect upon past visits to this area,  especially that journey up Whernside . Our ramble finally finished with a hearty lunchtime meal at the local pub, the Station Inn. A well deserved rest was taken here before we boarded the 16:14 train back in the direction of Leeds and our individual journeys home.

A great experience, Cheers Lads.
