London Trip
A Days outing in the Capital.
9th. February.
Today brought about a visit to London, courtesy of Vigin Trainlines generous offer!
managed to get a fantastic deal on return rail fares to the city. These were purchased back in November.
7 of us were to make the trip, boarding the train at Leeds and Wakefield , we would arrive at Kings Cross just before 10:00 am. Unfortunately our 8th member Jeff having to make other arrangements
He arrived some 30 minutes later , so our wait was wasted on breakfasts for all at a station cafe.
Once our group was assembled it was off to the underground, and a tube ride journey to Green Park.
Once at Green Park we now made our way towards Westminster, only to find after some 15 minutes we were heading the wrong way, our direction altered we soon found ourselves outside Buckingham palace ,another photo opportunity.
Now on to Westminster the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Then a fortunate visit to the House of Commons and Lords, this was a fantastic experience, we spent just over an hour here.
From here we took another tube ride journey to Tower Hill and a visit around the Tower of London.
Another great experience aided by a Beefeater guide
We spent just short of two and half hours here , the cold weather was beginning to bite, only 3degress down by the river. So now we made the decision to head back towards Westminster and take in some of the sites in this location. The Abbey the justice courts Big Ben , Downing Street and Trafalgar Square. After this we made our way to O'Neils ,a recommended pub close bye to enjoy a evening meal which we all found very tasty. Now back to Kings Cross and to board our home bound train.
What a very informative and interesting day enjoyed by all of us.
Cheers Lads
