Ilkley and the riverside walk

18th July 2019.             Ilkley and the riverside walk

For their adventure today ,some of the lads have decided to take just a short walk along the riverbank in the picturesque town of Ilkley. The lads will number just four,  those being Colin John Malcolm and Dave. Three of us will take the train from Leeds, John making is way to Ilkley by way of bus.
All hoping to meet up around 11am. This is indeed what happened, from the railway station we took the short walk down towards the riverside and began our relatively short distance stroll following the river upstream for a couple of miles or so.

The weather forecast went slightly adrift with some unpredicted rain at one stage so a swift run for cover was initiated. Rain showers over we continued our walk passing through meadow land until we reached the riverside again, we followed the river for about another half mile or so before we decided to turn back , retracing some of our steps for part of the way.

Before not too long we were back in the outskirts of Ilkley and ready for some lunch, this we  enjoyed at the Riverside Kabin Cafe which was followed by an ice cream from the nearby kiosk.
From this point we now headed back towards the town centre and the railway station in order to catch the train back to Leeds not before saying farewell to John who was again taking the bus back home.
Another brief but enjoyable day out with some of the lads.
 Cheers
