York Trip

9th January 2020.                York Trip

Today sees the first outing of the new year for the Lads, they have decided to visit the city of York
Their means of reaching the city are by taking a journey on the infamous Zap Bus, a luxury coach that operates between the two cities of Leeds and York , it’s a limited stop service so the journey time is relatively quick.

The Lads have arranged to meet in Leeds Bus Station in order to catch the 10:30
Bus. It will be a group of five that make this trip to York and will include Derek Dave John Colin and Keith. The lads arrived in the city of York at about 11:15 the weather was better than expected with no rain to be seen although a rather cold wind was in our faces as we walked along side the river bank
heading for the Millennium Bridge a distance of just over a mile or so from the city centre. Extreme care had to be taken as we shared the footpath with cyclists and dog walkers, at one point Dave was lucky to escape serious injury from a speeding bike, reckless rider. Upon reaching the so called bridge we took advantage and crossed over the river then walked back towards the city centre.

Once back in the heart of things it was now time to find our intended lunch time cafe , one recommended by our food guide Derek. Armed with the location address and post code it should have been easy to locate,  far from the truth even with the help of Colin’s new iPhone, eventually we found ourselves outside the said cafe deciding wether or not to go inside, finally someone made a move and then we were all sat at a table choosing from the menu. A delightful lunch was enjoyed by all at Wheldrakes Cafe. After a leisurely time sat in the cafe discussing future plans and what have you, we now made our exit only to find that light rain had began to fall as we headed in search of McDonalds and a so called brain freeze experience, this did not disappoint the lads, only Derek failing to suffer this extreme sensation, ha ha.

We now left McDonalds and headed back in the direction of the Railway  Station intending to visit some small museum on or way , but this was soon
rejected and a hasty dash to catch the 3:10 pm Zap Bus now came into play , has we climbed  on board the bus and sat chatting  about our experience of today’s adventure, before not too long we found ourselves back in the city of Leeds and saying farewell to each other  and continued with our own journeys home.
Yet another great experience for the lads.
Cheers.
