Scarborough Fair
27th February 2020. Scarborough Trip
It was all aboard the 9:27 train travelling from Leeds to Scarborough , for yet another visit by some of the lads to this East Coast resort. Just a group of four left the city of Leeds, they will be Derek ,Dave , Colin and John, they are meeting up with Alan who is already in Scarborough. On this train journey the lads where able to see at first hand the drastic flood conditions that surrounded the area of the city of York and beyond. The overflowing river Ouse and the vast amount of submerged farm land stretching out as far as the eye could see, such terrible conditions out here at the moment. Similar conditions could be seen as the train traveled on towards Malton and Seamer.
Their train arriving at Scarborough a few minutes later than scheduled, the time was now 11:00 am. Yet again the weather conditions have been kind to the lads, it was a fine and sunny day that greeted them on their arrival, although a chilling wind was an obvious factor to be contended with. Nevertheless their adventure in Scarborough began with a walk towards the South Bay Area before joining the beach and heading back towards the harbour region here hoping to find their lunch venue?. A prearranged internet search had suggested a couple of options, so with this to hand off they set. It didn’t take too long to find a suitable location, even though there was a change of ownership, the renamed establishment proved to be a successful experience for the lads, the fish and chip lunch time meal was enjoyed with delight.
A return visit to the Lookout Cafe will surely be on the cards.
From here the lads now moved on and began a lengthy journey along Marine Drive to the North Bay and back, suffering the feelings of the chilling wind on their bodies.
Upon returning to the town centre the lads now enjoyed a visit to the Harbour Bar and treated themselves to an ice cream delight, yum yum.
From here some of the lads took a short walk along the sea front before taking a ride on the funicular tram car to reach the cliff top , others taking on the rather difficult stairway. Eventually the lads found themselves outside W H Smiths and saying farewell to Alan and his wife after a brief conversation.
Now onto the Railway Station just in time to catch the 16:34 train taking them back to Leeds .
Upon reflection the lads have had yet another great days adventure here at Scarborough.
Cheers everyone.
