Harewood and the Pork Pie Picnic

30th. April. 2019       A Pork Pie Picnic  For their adventure today the lads are heading for the grounds of Harewood House, a country estate  situated north of Leeds. They intend to participate in a walk of a distance between 4 and 5 miles. The group for this trip will include John Eddie Alan Colin and Dave the rest of the lads have other commitments etc. The journey begins with three of the lads meeting up at Leeds Bus Station at about 10:15 in order to catch the No.36 luxury service bus that will transport them to Harewood, once there they will rendezvous with the other two lads and then begin this adventure. A rather misty start greeting the lads has they set foot inside the grounds, but not  before too long the mist lifts and reveals what turns out to be a glorious day, packed with lots of interesting sites , sounds and other ramblers enjoying being outdoors, such a pleasure to meet and chat with them and accept their help with som...

Ribblehead Revisited

April 2019.                  Ribblehead Revisited  Today’s adventure would take the lads back to the surrounding area of Ribblehead and marvel at the magnificent viaduct that was constructed there many years ago. The lads are due to take the 9:20 train from Leeds, they will be a group of six today, Eddie Colin Malcolm John Derek and Dave, unfortunately Keith had problems with the train connection to Leeds and was unable to join us. The journey to Ribblehead takes about an hour and ten minutes, so it was just before 11:00 am when we arrived at a very chilly station platform here in the middle of such beautiful countryside .   A brief visit to the information centre here at the station then down the road to the local pub to check out their menu for our intended end of the walk meal, then off we started along with a few other keen  ramblers. Hull Museum Trip

                                       14th. March 2019        Hull Museum Trip For their adventure today, the lads have decided to give the East Yorkshire City of Hull a visit. As per usual the lads will take the train, a journey of about an hour in order to reach this destination  Some of the lads boarded the train at Dewsbury the others joining at Leeds, the group will consist of Derek Dave Colin Keith and John they have arranged to meet up with Kevin at the railway station at Hull about 10:45 if all goes to plan, this is indeed what happened. A brief exchange of greetings and a photo opportunity then the lads slowly made their way to the station exit and a chance to see the streets of this coastal city. Slaithwaite to Standedge

February 2019.     Slaithwaite to Standedge Tunnel  For their outing today the lads are heading for the western reaches of West Yorkshire, to the village of Slaithwaite which nestles in the Colne Valley. Their target is to walk along the canal towpath heading  for Marsden a distance of about 3 miles, then continue to the beginning of the Standedge Tunnel an extra 10 minutes walk away. Today’s crew will amount to five , John Colin Keith Derek and Dave The other lads having prior arrangements. The adventure starts as usual at Leeds Railway Station where some of them will board the 10:40 train  bound for Huddersfield, the rest will join at different locations. Once all gathered at Huddersfield they will take the 11:28 train heading for Slaithwaite just a short distance along the tracks.
