Liverpool Trip

                     Liverpool Trip 3rd May 2018

Our mission today is to visit the city of Liverpool , to encounter the Terracotta Warriors who are on exhibition at the world museum here in the city.
We also intend to explore the Western Approaches H.Q. which is now open to the public here in the city.
Today we are a group of six, the members include Malcolm, Eddie, John, Derek, Dave and Colin
As usual arrangements have been made to join the Scarborough  to Liverpool train, departing Leeds about ten minutes past nine and calling at Dewsbury some twelve minutes later.
Once we are all aboard it’s now time to discuss our future plans, this becoming a rather lengthy process to say the least. However progress was eventually reached with the booking of our rail tickets
for our intended London venture the next coming month. This was all achieved via the courtesy of Colin and his iPhone 7 Plus!
Now with about 15 minutes of our journey left , it was time to see what was beyond the carriage walls! The city limits of Liverpool at a guess.
Arriving at Lime Street Station a few minutes before Eleven o’clock it was a leisurely departure from the train as we headed  towfards the exit and not before encountering the recently erected statue of former Liverpudlian Ken Dodd.

Once we establish our bearings and with time in hand before our scheduled time slot at the world museum, it was time to take in the sites of the magnificent buildings that now surrounded us here in this city.
Not before too long we found ourselves in front of the exhibition hall and joined the small queue that was waiting to enter. The girl in the payment kiosk told us to go to the second floor and at that point we would gain entrance to the exhibition. Some minutes later and after a short introductory film we
now came face to face with the Terracotta Warriors all eight of them that were life size!

Many other smaller exhibits were on display along with vast amounts of historical information boards etc.
After trying to absorb some of the historical facts and marvel at the objects on display the exhibition hall became a little too crowded, our visit lasting  about 90 minutes or so before we exited the building and gain some fresh air out in the open. A few moments respite sat out front , then it was off for a late lunch , just a short distance away at the City Cafe on Stanley Street , ably assisted by directions from a passerby . Lunch enjoyed it was now time for our second adventure of the day, again this location was not too far away from the Cafe, maybe a ten minute walk or so. We were heading towards the Town Hall area of the city.
Before not too long we found Rumford Street and the entrance to the Western Approaches Museum.
Once inside this establishment with its nostalgic decor and helpful staff, we began to explore a bygone era full of fascinating artefacts and relics from this time in history.

We all had great fun exploring this building and marvelled at the vast amount of communication equipment required in order to run this establishment, a credit to the engineering skills and dedication of the staff that  helped run this Place.

Our documents stamped and our experience enjoyed we left this building behind and now went in search of a Ice Cream Parlour.
This we found in a different part of the city,  in the shape of Paolo & Donato’s Italian Deli on Richmond Street . Here we all enjoyed a ice cream of our choice and sat down to reflect upon our experience here in Liverpool today.
With the time now approaching 6pm. we made our way back to Lime Street Station in order to take the train journey back home.

Another great day out with the Lads
Cheers.
