Scarborough trip 17 September 2020.

John and I departed Leeds on the 09:00 Edinburgh train to pick up the 10:00 from York which was on platform 2 waiting for us. The doors soon opened and we ensconced ourselves at  a table seat with very few people to worry about. The train departed on time and with the sun shining brightly we were soon in Scarborough with obligatory stops at Malton and Seamer. The train arriving at 10:47 but whilst the bus was still at the bus stop it was full and we had to wait for the 11:20 departing and taking a more coastal route before rejoining the main Scarborough-Whitby road arriving in Cloughton a little before 11:45.

Taking the Station Lane we wended our way until we reached the hill where we were directed on our last visit to cut through the countryside but before we could reach the required road the lads panicked and took us through a variety of fields to know avail.

However, Colin endeavoured to get us to the road to the sea and found it but it required hedge hopping which Colin organised and John was the first to take the plunge with me following and Brian bringing up the rear with a mighty leap.

We were now only metres from the coastal path whereby some dog walkers indicated the path we should take. We were soon on the coastal path and the sunshine, breeze and views all conspired to make the journey extremely pleasant.

We stopped for lunch a little after 12:30 and enjoyed a 30 minute break to eat our sandwiches.

Starting up again we made our way towards our destination but not before chatting to a couple of friendly guys from Grimsby.

We soon arrived outside Peaseholme Park where Brian treated me and John to a delicious ice cream.

We then had to wait almost 45 minutes for our bus up to the train station for our 15:34 departure back to Leeds with  Brian going back to his hotel via a paddle in the North Sea.

We departed Scarborough on time at 15:34 and once again plenty of room on our train this time pushed by 68032 “Destroyer” getting us back into Leeds at 16:56 just a minute behind schedule.

John catching his train back to Bingley and me c  as aching the 200 Cleckheaton bus back to Beeston.

Colin completing around 12,500 steps and John around 17,700 a great effort all round.
