Meeting at Morley
Meeting at Morley
Thursday 20th August 2020. Today would see a meeting up for five of the Lads, their venue was the West Yorkshire town of Morley. A place not too far from everyone’s homes . Their rendezvous time was that of midday. It would be the first time that some of the lads had seen each other since late February.
John and Colin were first to arrive followed shortly By a surprise visit from Dave who brought along with him Derek, a few moments later Brian came along and joined the group as we sat outside the Picture House on the high street in Morley. We were blessed with fine weather, lovely sunshine was in abundance and we were taking advantage of this. After several minutes chatting we moved on from this location and set up camp just about 50 yards further down the high street at a recommended establishment named Cocina Cafe. It was rather busy but we managed to find a table to suit our requirements sat outside on the terrace. It was catch up time for us all now, each one of us eager to tell our story of the happenings since last we met. Before not too long things began to settle down as a menu found its way to our table and passed around for all to see and decide what meal to order. After what seemed forever we all made our individual choices and proceeded to the bar to place our order’s . Before not too long our food began to arrive and interrupted our conversations that were taking place, plenty of previous work employees names being banded around as to who had what and where he was living now , a few of these people had been spotted on several occasions over the past few months, it was so, so good to be back together enjoying this banter once again , lunch was delightful and so was the company , almost an hour and a half sat in the sunshine and enjoying the moment. It was 1:45 on the clock as we parted company Derek and Dave heading back to Wakefield by car while John Colin and Brian decided to stretch their legs and take a 2 mile walk down to the White Rose Centre before catching their respective buses home.
What a great joy it was for us to meet up again, let’s hope that this may continue for many more times to come. Cheers Lads.
