Scarborough Trip

Image
24th January 2019.              Scarborough Trip  Today’s adventure would see some of the lads take their annual January visit to the East coast resort of Scarborough, a trip done many times before but still greeted with the same enthusiasm. The group for today’s experience will be Keith, Derek, Malcolm, Dave and John, all meeting up at Leeds Railway Station in order to board the 9:21 train leaving from platform 11b. A few minutes late the train pulled away and our journey began, a cold day had been the early forecast so suitable attire was the order of the day, but much to our surprise a rather pleasant day was the outcome, plenty of sunshine and relatively no east coast breezes to deal with. We eventually arrived at Scarborough a few minutes after 10:30. Our plans for today were to walk from the South Bay along Marine Drive heading for the North Bay and once there enjoy the delights of the fishery s...

Today’s blog is a brief summary of what the lads have experienced during this  year of 2018 Back to January now and the first outing of the year took place with a visit to Beverley which was thoroughly enjoyed  This was then followed by a journey to the seaside resort of Scarborough a frequent destination for the lads.  Now into February and the lads get a walk in the snow as they tread their way from Woodlesford to Crossgates , next its a long train journey upto Heysham Port and a walk along the coast to Morecambe , the return journey was rather cold!. The month of March is next and this sees the lads head for Ribblehead and get lost in the mist, then it’s a trip to Scarborough but we finished up on the beach at Bridlington. Late spring now and the lads venture to Liverpool and catch a glimpse of the terracotta warriors before climbing to take a rooftop view of the city from the towering heights of the cathedral. Their next outing was a canal side w...

Thackray Museum and Red Hot

6th December 2018.            A City Break. Today’s adventure would take the lads to the city of Leeds, a place they know only too well, that is for most of them. Some would see this visit as a step back in time so to speak! Back to the shop floor and the daily routine of manufacturing surgical instruments. The reason for this is that today the lads are  embarking on a visit to the Thackray Museum, a company that some of the lads dedicated most of their working life’s  to. The Museum is situated in part of an old wing of St. James Hospital in Leeds. The lads have arranged to all meet up in the city’s bus station at 11 o’clock, the group will include  Eddie Keith John Colin Derek and Dave , they have also invited a couple of fellow employees  John Howarth and Pete Hoyle. Once the group was assembled at the bus station it was now time to board a number 16 bus that would take the lads to the vicinity of the T...
